Connectivity and Reachability

Argus reports on a flows connectivity status in each argus flow activity record.  The methods used to determine connectivity status are either defined in RFC 2678, or are variations of these definitions.  Argus data, depending on the deployment strategy, can be used in support of determinations of:

   Type-P-Instantaneous-Unidirectional-Connectivity
   Type-P-Instantaneous-Bidirectional-Connectivity
   Type-P-Interval-Unidirectional-Connectivity
   Type-P-Interval-Bidirectional-Connectivity
   Type-P1-P2-Interval-Temporal-Connectivity

for all Type-P and Type-P1-P2 Argus flow models.

Argus connectivity indications can be used in accounting and billing, network operations management, performance analysis and security management tasks.
